There is an old saying by a wise scholar that says, “A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step”.
Everything we do in life begins with a single step. As a young child, I knew two things for certain- I love the outdoors and I love to create. My passion for art began in a small Midwest town where I would spend a great deal of time learning to draw from my favorite book: Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Animals. Drawing was so easy. I could draw animals using simple shapes and it was so much fun. I could use the animals to tell a story; it could take me to places I have never been. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life- I wanted to be an artist. That made me happy.
It was not until high school and later college, that art truly held a special meaning. My first art class was in a small town high school. It was there my love for Art grew. For the first time, I made paper. I painted on a canvas. I learned how to mix color. Most importantly, I heard the stories of others like me who found that creating art provided a satisfaction that cannot be expressed with words.

Life happens. Over the years, my passion for art became a faded memory. My life simply took a different and exciting path. After many years, I decided that I needed to revive that passion that existed as a young child. I needed to return to the simple things in life that created happiness; the outdoors and Art. The journey that started with a single step, evolved into something unexpected. The, Journey of a Painter, combines two passions of mine. The journey is one that is metaphorical and inspirational. They are travels that have taken me to the places I have always dreamed of going- the Smoky Mountains, the Grand Canyon, waterfalls, and everything I find beautiful. It is a journey to discovery.
